-What are the main differences with your previous work?
We have developed a much more personal style of death metal with Life
Erazer I think. The music is a bit darker and rawer and not so US-inspired
as Written in Blood. We have done the arrangements better this time
so that the tracks didn't become so chaotic as on the debut album, but
it is still very technical death metal of course. The fast parts are
faster and the heavy parts are even more heavier.
-Was it harder or faster to record it this time? We had twenty days
in the studio, the same as for Written in Blood. We were a little bit
harder on ourselves this time to achieve the best result as possible.
We worked with these ten tracks for almost three years you know.
-Is your line up steady?
Yes!
-Do you feel like talking about the lyrics more deeply?
The lyrics are quite self destructive and misanthropic. They treat the
subject of a vision to destroy all life that has ever existed, even
your own. This will be the task for the reaper of souls to achieve.
The lyrics are in a way a sequel to the Written in Blood lyrics and
they reveal even more facts of what Soulreaper stands for.
-And as to scene backgrounds, lights or effects live? Will you just
be concentrated on the music? We have not started to work with the Life
Erazer live-show yet. But we have a lot of different ideas for the show.
-Do you consider being a musician a true job or just the best way
to survive without being crushed by the daily grind?
It is definitely a job. It takes a lot of time to be part of a band
like Soulreaper. There is always something to take care of; rehearsing,
interviews, recordings, live-performances etc. But then again; there
is not very much money to earn in this style of music. It is the challenge
that keeps you going.
-Any funny episodes live or off stage?
When we did a live-show in Wels (Austria) there was a crazy dwarf
who went dancing on the stage during our live-performance. We couldn't
help it but bursting out into terrible laughter before we kicked him
down from the stage.
-Do you have any side projects?
Some of the Soulreaper members have side-projects. Tobias Kellgren plays
drums in a band called Seventh One together with our former guitarist
Cristoffer Hermansson. Stefan Karlsson has had a band called Brutaliator
for twelve years or something. Johan Norman has also started to work
on a side-project but there is nothing released yet.
-Do you have time to answer all yr fans?
Yes! Almost.
-Final message for your Italian fans...
We will visit your country on our upcoming European tour. Until then
keep listening to our new album and watch out for the life erasing death
of Soulreaper.
